Eligibility Conditions

To be eligible to apply, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Age Limit: Applicants must not exceed 20 years of age as of 31st December 2024. However, candidates from Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), and Balochistan are eligible for up to 21 years with a one-year age relaxation.
  • Academic Qualifications: Candidates must have successfully completed F.Sc Pre Engineering or equivalent A Level with a combination of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, securing at least 55% marks. Candidates with O/A Level qualifications must provide an Equivalence Certificate along with their application.
  • Part-II Appearing Candidates: Applicants awaiting their F.Sc/A Level Part-II results can also apply if they have obtained at least 60% marks in Part-I and provide a Hope Certificate from their respective college/institute. However, failure to achieve the required 55% marks in F.Sc will lead to disqualification at any stage of the selection process or during training.

How to Apply

Prospective candidates can obtain the prospectus and application form from the official PMA website (www.marineacademy.edu.pk) or directly from the PMA Admission Office. The completed application form must be submitted via courier service along with a pay order or bank draft amounting to Rs. 3,500/- in favor of Pakistan Marine Academy, Karachi, payable at National Bank of Pakistan (PMA Branch Code-0239).

  • Self Finance Scheme (SFS): Candidates opting for SFS must submit an additional pay order/bank draft of Rs. 300,000/- along with their application. This fee is refundable if the candidate is selected on open merit or fails to meet PMA eligibility criteria.

Selection Procedure

Selection involves several stages:

  • Entrance Test: Conducted at multiple locations across Pakistan.
  • Medical Examination: Shortlisted candidates undergo a medical examination at designated Army/Navy hospitals.
  • Final Selection: Based on merit, including F.Sc. marks, entrance test results, medical examination, Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and final interview.

Education/Training & Certificates

Selected candidates undergo 2 years of residential training at PMA, leading to an Associate Degree in Nautical Science and Marine Engineering awarded by NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi. Certificates of International Maritime Organization (IMO) recognized Pre-Sea Mandatory Courses are also awarded.

Education/Training & Certificates

Successful candidates undergo a rigorous 2-year residential training program at PMA, culminating in the award of an Associate Degree in Nautical Science and Marine Engineering by NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi. Additionally, they receive certificates for International Maritime Organization (IMO) recognized Pre-Sea Mandatory Courses, enhancing their qualifications and career prospects in the maritime industry.

Scholarships

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs sponsors 33 need-based scholarships, distributed among provinces as follows:

  • Balochistan: 15 scholarships
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK): 6 scholarships
  • Punjab: 6 scholarships
  • Sindh: 6 scholarships

Ineligibility Criteria

Candidates are ineligible under the following circumstances:

  • Submission of tampered academic certificates/mark-sheets/documents.
  • Concealment of information, incomplete applications, or provision of false information.
  • Previous disciplinary actions or withdrawal from any academy/training institution, including the Armed Forces, due to disciplinary grounds or weak academic performance.
  • Conviction by a court of law for moral turpitude or any other offense.
  • Declared medically unfit by an Armed Forces hospital or Appeal Medical Board.
  • Color blindness.
